Kevrenn Alré

For 75 years, Kevrenn Alré has made the Breton culture resonate through music and dance.

The Association

Three pillars, one identity

Created in 1951 by the railway workers of the city of Auray, Kevrenn Alré is one of the oldest music and dance ensembles inspired by the traditional Breton culture. In 2026, the group will celebrate its 75th anniversary. In the 1980s, by creating a dance group closely linked to its bagad, Kevrenn Alré established a combined music and dance ensemble that has been part of the cultural and musical landscape of Brittany for nearly 45 years. Kevrenn Alré regularly performs overseas, from New York to Shanghai, Paris to the Asturias by way of Reunion Island. Since its creation, Kevrenn Alré has been committed to preserving and passing on the traditional culture of the Vannes region, and of Brittany at large. One of its main leitmotifs is transmission, which led to the creation of its music and dance School. The ensemble has won 8 bagadou Brittany Championship titles and 11 dance Brittany Championship titles.

Asamb' en Alré

Asamb’ en Alré

Asamb’ en Alré came to life in 2019 from the convergence of the ambitions of the Kevrenn Alré and those of the Auray local council to promote the rich heritage of dance, song and music of Auray’s region. By organising a day dedicated to the traditional culture with the support of various local cultural actors, the Kevrenn Alré fosters its dissemination and sharing with diverse audiences through intergenerational encounters between musicians, dancers and singers. Asamb’ en Alré quickly became a milestone and a recurring event in the region of Auray, with a strong identity, cultural influence and roots in the local heritage: accessible to all, promoting transmission, and recognised regionally. By the second edition, the competition was elevated by the Kenleur confederation to the status of a qualifying step for the traditional music and dance Brittany Championship in Gourin.
